Unable to go through the 1/13 pages are you eulogizing Sam Pitroda? He has done his bit and can you expect more from him! Almost like talking to the babus in the Gov. By the way only a dozen or so of NID alumini are involved in shaping the future of design education? There are private institutes providing design education , does the ‘august body’ of this forum think that these private institutes are not relevant? Can design education be only by NID alumini?

Why are IIT Design Departments, or the different private Design Schools in India who are doing extremely well not in this group? Is it a monopoly of NID alumni only.Or is it that NID alumni can only shape the future of Design in India. It may please be noted that NID has done NOTHING for the common man of Ahmedabad or India for which one can be proud of in the last 50 years. NID Ahmedabad is still referred to as “Museum” or “Fashion Design School” by the common man.

Thankyou Indranideparker for the brilliant report.
Adding images of the meet made it a virtual walkthrough.
NID no doubt captures the legacy of design in India thats why the govt of india wants to set up 4 more even after 50 years.
I believe the Vision first group should focus on building the curriculum for the new institutes addressing the innovation wave, bridging the b to d gap in innovation, developing jugaad to a potent innovation skill set.low cost design for india etc.
All the failings of design in the last 50 years in our country can be intelligently attributed to lack of finiancial support – the same reason the IIT’s and IIM’s are seen by Jairam Ramesh as less than world class (but for its students).
NOW ITS TIME TO BRING IN WORLDCLASS FUNDING (BLACKMONEY IF NEED BE) TO INDIAN INSTITUTIONS AND LET THE SHOW BEGIN ON FAIR AND EQUAL TERMS.
Finiancial constraints has so far taken an unspoken toll on our performance.
We can be forgiven for cribbing
